Bob Day MBE steps down from the GÉANT General Assembly

Bob Day MBE, Chief Technology Officer at Jisc, has stepped down from the GÉANT General Assembly – GÉANT’s highest governing body. The announcement was made public during its latest meeting that took place in Trondheim, Norway, on the 15th June 2018, right after the closing of TNC18, GÉANT’s flagship annual conference. Bob Day has been an active representative of the community and, since 2008, he also played a pivotal role at GÉANT in his previous roles as member and Chair of the DANTE Board; during that time he led important strategic developments, above all, the merger of DANTE and TERENA. Subsequently, from October 2014 to November 2015, he was appointed as the Interim GÉANT CEO – and first for GÉANT – ensuring continuity of the momentum generated by the merger whilst the new Board was settling in.

Christian Grimm, Chairman of the GÉANT Board of Directors, during his address to Bob in the presence of all members of the General Assembly commented: “Bob has been a member of our community for so many years, his contributions and support have been invaluable. We are proud to say that GÉANT would not be where it is today without Bob’s dedication and continued leadership during the merger.”
