CRNC2018 showcases vibrant R&E scene in Central Asia

Dushanbe, Tajikistan’s capital, hosted this year’s edition of the CAREN regional networking conference – CRNC2018. Themed Strengthening the Eurasian knowledge belt, the event powerfully demonstrated the extent of this belt by attracting over 150 delegates, not only from Central Asia, but also from countries to the east and west of the region.

Over the two conference days (23-24 October), participants got insight into the vibrant R&E scene in the region, particularly in Tajikistan, and heard first-hand from scientists and academics how CAREN’s high-speed links make a real difference in advancing collaborative research in areas such as environmental studies, seismology, telemedicine and preservation of natural and cultural heritage.

In addition, presentations outlined how remote training opportunities make education and knowledge transfer more accessible. The recurring message was: international collaboration is a must, (international) connectivity is key!
