The Task Force for Educational Services and Activities (TF-EDU) is born

The R&E community has spoken: TF-EDU takes shape!

Over 55 organisations including national research and education networks (NRENs), universities, education intitutions and commercial companies – specialised in educational technologies – have unanimously endorsed the creation of TF-EDU. This new task force aims to gather information, discuss and develop tools and best practices to address the common issues faced by NRENs with regards to their educational services and activities. The task force’s areas of interest are varied and span from Learning Management Systems (LMS), Learning Analytics (LA), Virtual Learning Environment (VLE),  to eduID, Open Educational Resources (OER) and more.

TF-EDU opens a space to enable organisations and individuals to share their own practice (both positive and less successful), focussing on two major tracks:

A. The task force serves as a strategic platform for the creation of an overview of the edu technologies landscape in the NREN community and beyond.
B. The task force liaises with interested parties and supports the creation and work of smaller working groups that will dynamically form around specific services, challenges and opportunities in the area of edu technologies.

TF-EDU is the ideal forum for those working on educational services and activities within their organisation (whether an NREN, an education institution or a commercial company). TF-EDU is committed to sharing every outcome, finding and result with the wider GÉANT community.

TF-EDU Steering Committee:
• Erik Kikkenborg (NORDUnet) – Chair
• Gyöngyi Horváth, GÉANT – Coordinator
• Dragana Kupres (CARNET) – Coordinator
• Esther Wilkinson (Jisc)
• Vegard Moen (UNIT)
• Tomi Dolenc (ARNES)
• Renato Furter (SWITCH)
• Jasmijn Jacobs-Wijn (SURFnet)
• Birgitta Hemmingsson (ITHU)

We are busy preparing a series of online, face-to-face events, surveys and publishing analyses on NRENs edu technologies – do stay tuned and get involved, we would love to hear from you.
