Alf Moens joins GÉANT

We are delighted to announce that on 1 June Alf Moens joined the GÉANT family as Senior Information Security Officer in Klaas Wierenga’s team.

In his new role Alf will be involved in the development of GÉANT’s security strategy with a focus on business continuity planning and the expansion of the service offering for NRENs.

Alf is already active, well-known and respected in the community; he has been the Chair of the Special Interest Group on Information Security Management (SIG-ISM) since 2015 and plays a prominent role in GN4-3 where he is co-work package leader of the Security Work Package 8.

Alf shared with us his thoughts on the role of security in current times: “Recent developments show the growing dependency on safe and secure networks and services. In the span of just three months the world has witnessed a global revolution forcing society to become more digital. This is only possible because our community has already invested considerably in security and privacy and now we need to take this to the next level: we must keep research and education safe and secure.”

Previously Corporate Security Officer for SURF, the Netherlands NREN, Alf is a passionate all-round adviser specialised in information security, with a deep understanding of stakeholders’ information management needs, information processing and process management.

Welcome aboard Alf!
