GARR announced the inclusion among its members of INAF, the Italian National Institute for Astrophysics. The prestigious research institute joins the association governing the GARR network, a group formed by CNR, ENEA, INFN and CRUI Foundation, representing all Italian universities.
According to GARR’s president Sauro Longhi, INAF’s involvement will strongly benefit the Italian R&E community and provide a significant contribution in terms of innovation and technological enhancement of the network and of the services available. In parallel, this new membership will help INAF to tackle key challenges related to Big Data and to ensure their participation to global astronomical infrastructures and future space missions.
