EOSC Association moves forward with third General Assembly

Over 200 participants joined the extraordinary third General Assembly of the EOSC Association on Friday 10 December 2021, where the Association elected three Board members, welcomed eleven new member organisations and eleven new observers, and discussed key activities for 2022.

Thank you Ronan Byrne!

In announcing the outcomes of this extraordinary General Assembly, the EOSC Association took the occasion to thank Ronan Byrne, who – after serving for one year on the EOSC Association Board – recently decided to step down to focus on his new role as CEO of HEAnet, Ireland’s National Education and Research Network.

Ronan’s outstanding contributions to the EOSC Monitoring and Reporting activities have made a huge impact. Under his leadership the first Additional Activities reporting of the EOSC Association has been set-up, which represents one of the first deliverables of the co-programmed EOSC Partnership.

Among other responsibilities, Ronan will continue in his role in the Irish Government’s National Open Research Forum steering group and as Chair of the GÉANT NIAC, the Network Infrastructure Advisory Committee providing guidance and advice on the upgrade of the GÉANT Network.

A new Board and CTO for the EOSC Association

Our congratulations to the three candidates that have been elected for a three-year mandate on the EOSC Association Board, specifically to the new Board member Sara Garavelli (CSC – IT Center for Science) and to Bob Jones (CERN) and Wilhelm Widmark (Stockholm University), now confirmed for a second mandate.
