Bright students and young professionals wanted – GÉANT’s Future Talent Programme is back on stage

The GÉANT Learning And Development team (GLAD) is pleased to announce that nominations for the 2022 Future Talent Programme (FTP) are open. The Future Talent Programme challenges students and young professionals (nominated by NRENs) to present an idea or project in a 5 minute “Lightning Talk” at GÉANT’s annual TNC conference.

After two virtual editions, Future Talents will now have the possibility to get up on the TNC22 live stage in Trieste and pitch their ideas in front of the global research and education networking community.

Who can take part in the Future Talent Programme?

The programme is open to students who are registered on any IT or networking-related course at a university, college or learning provider and to young professionals (trainees) working at an NREN.

Participants must be nominated by NRENs participating in the GÉANT (GN4-3) project. GÉANT partners are invited and encouraged to reach out to their communities and to propose up to three students or young professionals by 11 March 2022.

How does it work?

All the talents accepted onto the Future Talent Programme will receive high quality professional training, to help them master presentation skills and prepare for an impactful presentation. Public speaking master classes will take place in April and May 2022.

FTP participants can also submit their Lightning Talk proposal to the TNC Programme Committee for a chance to be selected as ‘finalists’ and to be invited to present at the TNC conference. If accepted for a Lightning Talk, the GÉANT Learning And Development (GLAD) team will pay participants’ travel and hotel fees for TNC. All Lightning Talks proposals submitted will go through the regular TNC submission process and will be judged by the conference’s Programme Committee.

Candidates’ presentations will also receive further visibility by being published and promoted through all GÉANT communication channels.
