The GÉANT Innovation Programme is aimed at driving and funding grassroots innovation across a wide range of topics within the GÉANT community, with lightweight administration.
First launched in February 2021, the programme has funded thirty projects in the areas of multimedia, networks, trust & identity, education, cloud, security, privacy and eHealth.

So, what is the Innovation Programme?
As part of the GÉANT Community Programme (GCP), the GÉANT Association reserves €300k to support specific research projects to be carried out by the GÉANT Community. The Call for Proposals is for research projects to each receive funding of up to €50k, for a maximum duration of six months.

This year’s successful applicants included entries from Serbia, UK, Sweden, Ireland, Norway and Italy, covering a range of topics including e-Health, networking, cloud services, security, blockchain, and Trust and Identity.
Am I eligible to apply?
GÉANT Member NRENs and/ or legal entities from one of its ‘connected institutions’, including universities, research or education institutes or institutions connected to an NREN, are welcome and eligible for funding under this programme. Joint applications of a small consortia led by an NREN or eligible entity are also welcome to apply.
