Inclusive Presentation Skills Training – 9 May 2024

Earlier this month Dom Mayerl, Learning & Development Specialist at GÉANT, led a new remote training session on how to incorporate more inclusivity into presentations, training, and talks. 30 members from across the community attended, with representatives from CISR, CERN, URAN, and GARR to name a few. The training was warmly received, and the feedback that followed highlighted a request for more sessions to be made available. The GÉANT Learning and Development team (GLAD) have arranged another session on 9 May 14:00-15:30 CEST.

About the Inclusive Presentation Skills Training:

When developing and delivering a presentation, it is important to think inclusively about the diversity of your audience. This session will provide you with guidance on how to ensure any presentation you provide avoids any language or behaviour that might be offensive, insensitive, or discriminatory. It will also look at inclusive presentation visuals and ways to make any material more accessible for the whole community.

This training session is suitable for anyone creating and delivering presentations across the community. The session will be delivered online and a link to join will be provided to all registered participants closer to the training date.

Below is some of the feedback received following the first session:

“The training raised issues which I had not considered before.”

“The section on accessibility was incredibly powerful and useful. This is something that everyone should be aware about.”

“Guidance on corporate culture and expectation. Best practice principles were brilliantly delivered. It initiated me to think about company policies, expectations, and possible resource and software tooling to assist with objectives here.”
