TNC24 bids merci et au revoir to Rennes

Le magnifique TNC24, the biggest TNC yet, came to an end today after a great week of presentations, parallel sessions, side meetings, BoFs, Lightning Talks, community hub collaboration, morning run mingling, coffee break collaboration, dinner discussions, and perfect pastries!

Today’s closing plenary, jointly chaired by GÉANT CEO Erik Huizer and Chair of the TNC24 Programme Committee Alexander van den Hil, featured keynote speaker Dr Nataliya Kosmyna of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, whose talk on STEMAI: The Future of Computing explored how we can create new ways of interfacing with the computers around us for the betterment of humanity.

You can read more about Dr Kosmyna in our CONNECT Interview, published this week in CONNECT 46.

But first, Valentino Cavalli, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Vietsch Foundation, presented the Vietsch Medal of Honour to Christian Grimm, CEO of DFN, who then delivered a truly moving acceptance speech praising the numerous people he has worked with on the GÉANT Board of Directors through the years, all of them inspired by past leaders – and in particular Karel Vietsch himself.

Finally, we welcomed onto the stage a surprise guest: the CEO of host NREN for TNC25… Heidi Fraser-Krauss of Jisc, which can mean only one thing:

TNC25 will be in the UK, hosted by Jisc in the seaside town of Brighton! See you next year!
