GÉANT Network eAcademy expands global scope with new GNA-G Working group

GNA-G, the Global Network Advancement Group, launched a new Working Group on the Network eAcademy. The Working Group aims to make the current contents and tools of the Network eAcademy available to the entire research and education community, share knowledge, and discuss with Research and Education institutions around the world possible improvements to the initiative, particularly in the areas of Automation, Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Technologies, Optical Time and Frequency Networks, and in other fields related to Network Development. Additionally, the Working Group will support R&E institutions in measuring their Orchestration, Automation and Virtualisation (OAV) maturity status and in comparing their OAV architecture with sibling organisations.

Working Group chairs Maria Isabel Gandía (CSUC / RedIRIS), Ivana Golub (PSNC), AJ Ragusa (GNOC/Indiana University) and Pavle Vuletić (UoB/AMRES) invite all interested individuals to share constructive feedback on the contents and tools of the Network eAcademy, and to subscribe to the mailing list of the Network eAcademy GNA-G Working Group at: https://lists.gna-g.net/postorius/lists/network-eacademy-wg.lists.gna-g.net/

About the GNA-G

The GNA-G is a community of network professionals from Research & Education organisations from all over the world. GNA-G activities are conducted in Working Groups with contributors from various world regions, collaborating to better align resources and to improve the efficiency of intercontinental connectivity in support of global science collaborations and transnational education.

About the GÉANT Network eAcademy

The Network eAcademy is a GÉANT service aiming to support organisations with the advancement of skills and organisational capabilities in domains related to Network Development. It is an umbrella that covers several activities, such as the production and promotion of content around orchestration, automation and virtualisation, of architecture analysis and terminology documents, of an OAV Maturity Model and, most notably, of a popular and far-reaching series of training programmes developed “from the community and for the community”.

These training programmes are continuously developed by the GÉANT project’s Network eAcademy team, in collaboration with other tasks and external organisations. The Network eAcademy includes programmes on Network Automation (with the recent addition of a track on Artificial Intelligence), Quantum Technologies, and Optical Time and Frequency Networks (OTFN). Currently, more than 40 units have been published under the Network Automation programme, together with architecture analyses and external collaborations, as with the Global NOC (GNOC) at Indiana University and – more recently – with the SoBigData Academy.

The training programmes in the GÉANT Network eAcademy are presented in the recognisable ‘metro map’ format. Click on the images below to visit the the Network Automation eAcademy, Quantum Tech eAcademy, and Optical Time and Frequency Networks (OTFN) eAcademy:
