Community News TNC

Have you got an idea for a presentation or a side meeting at TNC26?

Call for Proposals is open for TNC26. The deadline is 27 November

The Call for Proposals for TNC26 is officially open. We’re inviting contributions for single presentations and side meetings that will inspire, connect, and challenge our community. You have until 27 November 2025 (midnight CET) to submit your proposal via the TNC26 website.

Single presentations

Single presentations offer an opportunity to showcase innovative ideas, share research outcomes, and highlight impactful projects shaping the future of research and education networking.

Side meetings

Open and accessible to all participants, side meetings are half day meetings that encourage open discussions on shared topics of interest. Designed for deeper engagement and collaboration, these meetings typically feature several presenters and allow the community to collectively explore specific topics. Each side meeting can host up to 100 participants, and will be held on Monday 8 June or Friday 12 June 2026.

Submit your proposal by 27 November 2025 (midnight CET). All participants will be notified of acceptance results in early February 2026.

Conference theme: Digital Sisu

The Finnish word sisu is untranslatable, but overall it can be explained as a concept encompassing inner strength, tenacity, determination, and courage, particularly in the face of adversity.

In a changing world, the TNC26 theme seems very fitting: our community needs to embrace the idea of sisu to ensure our future as a community. With this action-orientated mindset, we need the courage to make difficult decisions about our response to world events, to ensure a sustainable future for our activities and to maintain the strong ecosystem we have built.

Sisu is an all-purpose philosophy of life and as such it underpins all aspects of the NREN community.

Host and Venue

TNC26 is proudly hosted by CSC – IT Center for Science, who build digital solutions for data management, scientific computing, and education that help researchers, learners, and companies understand the world. CSC supports society’s digitalisation and, on its part, promotes the green transition with our customers, owners, and partners.

On 8-12 June 2026, TNC26 will take place at the Helsinki Music Hall (Helsingin Musiikkitalo in Finnish), a concert hall and a music centre in Finland. The building is home to Sibelius Music Academy and two symphony orchestras, the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra.
