The GÉANT project’s Network Development team is pleased to introduce a new learning unit in the AI section of GÉANT’s Network Automation eAcademy: “Product Catalogue.”
This course provides a structured introduction to the development and management of an effective Product Catalogue for products and services
The main goals of this learning unit are to:
-
Understand the role and structure of a Product Catalogue
Introduce the concept of the Product Catalogue within the TM Forum framework, explaining its purpose, layered structure (Product, Service, Resource), and its importance in the design and delivery of telecom services. -
Learn the key components and relationships in the Product Catalogue model
Provide a clear understanding of the core entities—Product Specification, Product Offering, Service Specification, and Resource Specification—and how they interconnect to support modular, scalable service offerings. -
Gain insight into practical implementation using TM Forum APIs
Explore the TMF620 API standard for managing catalogue entities, with detailed coverage of RESTful operations (GET, POST, PUT, PATCH, DELETE) for resources like ProductSpecification, ProductOffering, and ProductCatalog. -
Develop skills to model and manage telecom products
Enable learners to apply the model by examining real-world examples such as VPN offerings, showing how to define and link specifications, services, and resources within a digital catalogue.
