The latest technologies available across NREN networks are making huge demands on the ability to deliver effective new services to users. To be able to meet the needs of your users, to adapt to the growing security threats and to support emerging services such as HPC, Quantum and AI, effective Orchestration, Automation and Virtualisation is essential. As part of this process it is vital to understand how your NREN is ready for these changes.
To help with this, the GÉANT Network eAcademy has developed a OAV maturity model to help you audit your capabilities. This audit examines four key themes and generates multiple metrics to help you understand opportunities for improvement and plan to position your NREN to meet emerging challenges
MARNET’s Experience
Following with the architecture analysis of NRENs’ architectures to map them to a common reference blueprint (the TM Forum Open Digital Architecture [ODA]), the mapping for the Macedonian research and education network, MARNET, has been published.
The analysis of the components of the architecture has been done from an orchestration, automation and virtualisation (OAV) point of view by the architecture focus group in WP6 and with the help of the MARNET team. Find out more in https://resources.geant.org/project-output/gn5-2-white-papers/ or https://wiki.geant.org/spaces/NETDEV/pages/362742030/Mapping+Use+Cases, where you will also find the OAV architecture analysis for other NRENs and services. Your NREN architecture mapping can be the next one!
If you would like to analyse your components and do the mapping, the Network eAcademy team can help you do it. Just contact us at network-eacademy@lists.geant.org.
