We are pleased to announce that the Call for Proposals for our upcoming SIG-AI meeting in Madrid on 10–11 March 2026 is now open!
Hosted by RedIRIS, this meeting will focus on sharpening our thematic profile and exploring the core applications of AI within the NREN landscape. We are currently inviting proposals for presentations on the following key topics:
- Agentic AI: Are you exploring or implementing autonomous agents? We are looking for use cases, strategies, and early experiences regarding how Agentic AI might transform research and education services.
- AI for Networking: Following the recent interest in AI for network operations, we invite contributions on how AI is being used for predictive maintenance, traffic optimisation, and improving overall network efficiency.
- AI and Governance in Research and Education Networking: We are looking for insights into the evolving landscape of AI policy and governance. If you have information on how national or European regulations are impacting NREN AI strategies, we would like to hear from you.
- Community Showcases: Insights from our host, RedIRIS, and other NRENs on their latest home-grown AI initiatives.
Open Call: Please note that submissions are not limited to the topics indicated above. We welcome any “open slot” proposals regarding brand-new ideas, emerging trends, or unique challenges at the intersection of AI and NRENs.
Presentation Format
- Duration: Each slot is allocated 20 minutes (15 minutes for the presentation followed by a 5-minute Q&A).
- Flexibility: While we look forward to seeing many of you in Madrid, remote presentations are fully supported for those unable to join us in person.
