CLAW 2019 – save the date!

What do you do when a dragon burns down your data centre? Do you slay the dragon? Do you follow a strict organisation protocol – that you know by heart? Or do you talk to the dragon to find out why he/she decided to burn down your data centre? Brian Nisbet (HEAnet) posed this very important question during the session Are You Ready for Your Next Crisis? at TNC19. And although we do not have to prepare to face dragons (as far as we know) in our crisis procedures, we do need to think about what to do when something unexpected and destabilising happens to our organisations.

For this purpose, we are organising the CLAW crisis management event for the third year in a row. This time, CLAW will take place at PSNC in Poznan on 6-7 November with a working dinner on 5 November. During the first day of the event we will have three parallel workshops on: internal communications, management, and what to focus on during a crisis. Furthermore, we will hear from speakers about crisis management in other sectors and learn about crisis exercises held by NRENs throughout Europe. The second day of the event will be dedicated to testing and implementing what we will have learned on day one.

The goal of CLAW 2019 is to enhance the crisis management skills of people from NOC, marcomms, CSIRT, ISM, services and higher NREN management. One of the main benefits of CLAW is that representatives from different communities gather together to share their ideas, concerns and solutions, so please join CLAW and bring some colleagues with you.
