For many years the PeaR community newsletter has been known as a source of quality information about the research and education networking community, with articles submitted by the community for the community.
More recently these articles have been uploaded to blog.geant.org, with the PeaR newsletter delivering the latest articles to your inbox every week.
These articles are clearly popular – the blog.geant.org site has received over 31,000 pageviews in the last six months, and the newsletter subscriber list is now over 1,000 people!
Alongside that, CONNECT – the magazine from the GÉANT community – has continued to expand, bringing you more in-depth news, articles and interviews in a printed format.
Now, based on feedback from our partners, we have been working to simplify the GÉANT community’s communications channels – so that it’s easier to understand what is used where and when, and in doing so improve the effectiveness of these channels.
A CONNECT family of channels
This has led us to create a family of CONNECT channels, comprising the magazine you already know, a community website (connect.geant.org) and a weekly community newsletter (CONNECT newsletter).
What does this mean to you?
The blog.geant.org – and all of its articles – will be replaced by connect.geant.org. from 25 September 2019. If you visit the blog.geant.org site you will be redirected to the new site. We hope you like the new site and its wider range of content.
Your weekly newsletter will continue to arrive in your inbox but on Wednesdays instead of Tuesdays, starting from Wednesday 2 October 2019 and it will now be branded CONNECT and not PeaR. As well as community news, you will see additional content such as features and interviews in the newsletter and we really hope you like the new format.
The CONNECT magazine will continue in its current format, printed for distribution and published in PDF on the connect.geant.org website.

If you’ve contributed to blog.geant.org and PeaR newsletter in the past, please take advantage of the new website and newsletter. Your contributions will appear in the Community News section of the CONNECT website and be included in the newsletter. If you haven’t contributed before, why not start now? And what about the printed CONNECT magazine? The next call for articles will be sent out early next year, and you’ll have the option to re-use your website articles or send us fresh articles for the printed magazine. Your call!
