On 16 March 2020, few days after the COVID lockdown was extended to the entire Italian territory, the majority of GARR’s workforce was able to switch to homeworking. This was made possible by the Italian NREN’s ability to adapt most of its services for remote use. In less than one week, although some services still required the presence of personnel in-situ, the transition to remote working for the entire workforce became a reality.
How was GARR able to guarantee continued operations for such a complex infrastructure in this emergency situation? We spoke to Alessandro Inzerilli, Head of the GARR NOC and Operations to find out.
