LIBSENSE webinar on Persistent Identifiers on 7 September

Words: Effah Amponsah, Communication and Marketing Officer, WACREN

WACREN will be hosting the next LIBSENSE webinar Persistent Identifiers (PIDs) and the role they play in building open research infrastructures.

Persistent identifiers (PIDs) – for individuals (ORCID iDs), research outputs (Crossref and Datacite DOIs) and organizations (RORs) are foundational elements in the research information infrastructure. They enable transparent and trustworthy connections and their wider adoption can lead to improved access to information and increased trust in scholarship and research.

Join this introductory one-hour webinar to hear guest speakers from the provider organisations talk about ORCID, DOIs and ROR and how they contribute to the ‘FAIRization’ of data (FAIR: Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable).

There will be three top-notch, experienced speakers to deliver presentations and lead discussions on the subject matter.

Gabriela Mejias, the Engagement Manager at ORCID in the EMEA region, Richael Lammey – the Interim Community Director at Crossref and Helena Cousijn – the Community Engagement and Communications Director at DataCite, will share rare insights on how PIDs help to build open research infrastructures in different jurisdictions and contexts.

Participants are expected to have a knowledge upgrade on PIDs at the end the session.

The webinar is an activity under the AfricaConnect3 projected, partly funded by the European Commission.
