#WomenInSTEM campaign – Aïda Snene, Secretary General of CCK, Tunisia

Secretary General of the Center de Calcul El-Khawarizmi (CCK), the Tunisian NREN, Aïda Snene has contributed greatly to the development of the digitalisation of Tunisia’s higher education institutes. First as Deputy Director of the IT Department of the Faculties of Economic and Management and Secretary General of the Faculty of Science of the University of Tunis, and now at the CCK.

Tunisia is the first country in Africa to have been achieved gender equality in research and academia well before 2030. UNESCO estimated that 55% of researchers are female in Tunisia[1]. Similarly, CCK has two women are at its helm, and Aïda is one of them together with Prof. Saoussen Krichen, CCK’s Director General. A mom of two, Aïda is also a member of the committee for the digitalisation of high education and scientific research and is involved in several projects, such as for developing an urbanised information system for the Ministry and setting up a cloud sector, implementing the Campus Network project for full Wi-Fi coverage across Tunisian university campuses, and setting up CCK’s HPC center.

We interviewed her to get some insights into her professional achievements as a woman in STEM and her current projects at the CCK.
