High-Performance Computing, Big Data Analytics, and Communication Workshops Mark the Commencement of NREN Twinning Project
The Malawi Research and Education Network (MAREN) and ASNET-AM, the National Research and Education Network of Armenia, have inaugurated their NREN Twinning Project, marked by a series of workshops focusing on High-Performance Computing (HPC), Big Data Analytics, Communication, and Marketing.
The launch event, held at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) on Monday, received the honor of the presence of Mrs. Chikondano Mussa, the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Education in Malawi.
Coordinated by the European Research and Education Network, GÉANT, under the AfricaConnect3 project funded by the European Union, the NREN Twinning Program aims to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange between research and education networks.
In this collaborative endeavor between MAREN and ASNET, MAREN is hosting two distinguished officials from ASNET-AM.
Dr. Hrachya Astsatryan will be conducting training sessions for at least 21 ICT staff from MAREN member institutions, focusing on High-Performance Computing (HPC) and Big Data Analytics. Additionally, Naira Kocharyan will share insights and skills with MAREN staff in NREN Communication, Marketing, and Project Management.
Solomon Dindi, speaking on behalf of MAREN, expressed gratitude to ASNET-AM for embracing the twinning initiative. He also acknowledged the support of the European Union and GÉANT for sponsoring and coordinating the NREN Twinning Program, emphasizing its critical role in facilitating skills and information sharing in the digital age.
In a statement, the CEO of MAREN, Solomon Dindi, applauded ASNET-AM for their collaboration, stating, “We appreciate ASNET-AM for accepting to twin with MAREN, and we are grateful to the EU and GÉANT for their sponsorship and coordination of the NREN Twinning Program. This initiative is crucial for enhancing skills and promoting information sharing in our rapidly evolving digital landscape.”
Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Mrs. Chikondano Mussa, hailed the twinning project and encouraged MAREN to explore further partnerships under the program. Her endorsement reflects the government’s commitment to fostering international collaborations that contribute to the advancement of ICT skills and knowledge within the education sector in Malawi.
