Issue number 45 of the GÉANT CONNECT Magazine features a series of interviews and testimonials with women in the Research and Education networking community:
- Interview with Edith Heard, Director General of EMBL.
- A piece highlighting “Women for STEM”, wishing to raise visibility of women who are often perceived as working “behind the scenes” but are actually at the forefront and with their job roles support the more technical activities of the community.
- An article from Elana Araújo from the Advanced Computing at Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, through the FCCN unit female representation in her STEM field.
CONNECT45 also highlights two very important milestones in the NREN community. 2023 marked the 40th anniversary for FUNET, the Finnish University and Research Network, and the 30th for the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center in Poland.
Another key topic is security and resilience for research and education. Dive into the world of cyber threat intelligence with David Heed, senior IT-security practitioner at SUNET, the Swedish NREN, and post-quantum cryptography with Professor Roland van Rijswijk-Deij from the University of Twente, who will be the keynote speaker at the upcoming GÉANT’s Security Days in Prague on 9-11 April 2024. Both interviews are featured in the Magazine.
