The Special Interest Group – Network Operations Centres (SIG-NOC) is a community effort initiated by the National Research and Education Networks (NRENs) gathered under the GÉANT Association in Europe. The SIG-NOC creates an open forum where experts from the GÉANT Community and beyond exchange information, knowledge, ideas and best practices. These cover specific technical aspects or other areas of business, relevant to the research and education networking community.
The latest survey – undertaken at the end of 2023 shows significant changes in the roles of NOCs and the tools used to support them. These recognise the changing demands made on NOC teams to support the changing use of networks and the new services being supported by them.
