The rendezvous begins: TNC24 opens in spectacular Rennes

TNC24 opens in Rennes

GÉANT CEO Erik Huizer this morning opened TNC24 in Rennes by warmly welcoming participants and expanding on our theme of Rendezvous a Rennes with his inspiring words, “Every encounter holds the potential to inspire, every discussion can lead to discovery, and every handshake or smile bridges the gap between cultures and professions.” He also reminded participants that this is the first time that TNC has been hosted in France.

Further extending the welcome therefore was Director of the French NREN RENATER, Boris Dintrans, and Head of Digital Services and Infrastructure Development, Ministry of Higher Education and Research, Laurent Crouzet.

Chair of the GÉANT Board of Directors, Gilles Massen, then shared the memory of our lost colleague Sarah Jones, a sorely missed person who inspired so many others in the community – and so it seemed fitting to follow this sad moment with one of inspiration: announcing the 2024 GÉANT Community Award nominees and winner Marina Adomeit of SUNET. Congratulations, Marina!

And then keynote speaker Professor Paul Iske, of Maastricht University, took us through “Brilliant Failures: working together, failing together, learning together” with a great message of FAIL standing for First Attempt In Learning.

You can read more about Professor Iske in our CONNECT Interview, published this week in CONNECT 46.

So much to discover and discuss at TNC24

TNC24 is delivering a packed programme of keynote speakers, presentations, demonstrations, Lightning Talks, and workshops, as well as the new Community Hub which is already proving a great hit. And for those who cannot travel, the sessions can be followed via the online portal (registration required).

If you aren’t able to join us this week in person, or online, please note all recorded sessions will be available on tnc24.geant.org after the event closes.
