Brighter Together at TNC25

The Brighton Pier, which is where the TNC25 conference dinner - sponsored by Jisc - will be hosted.

TNC25 will be hosted by Jisc on 9-13 June, 2025 in Brighton, UK. The event will take place in the historic Brighton Dome, next to the Brighton Royal Pavilion, and will be hosted by Jisc, the UK’s digital, data, and technology agency for tertiary education, research and innovation.

What to expect at TNC25

As with all TNCs, TNC25 will not just be about the sessions – it’s about coming together as a vibrant community to meet and connect! And to make the most of this, we are excited about the new “TNC Exchange”, which will be the heart of the conference and the place where participants can mingle with peers, make new connections and build lasting professional relationships! This is an exciting new approach complementing the coffee breaks and evening socials and opening a whole new world for interaction and conversation.

This year’s theme “Brighter Together” embraces our community’s spirit of collaboration, breaking down barriers and sharing wide-ranging expertise. TNC25 will explore breakthroughs in cybersecurity, international partnerships, and network resilience, focusing on future-proof solutions to address current and future challenges.

The Programme

The TNC25 Preliminary Programme highlights the peer-reviewed presentations carefully selected and curated by our programme committee to reflect important trends and activities within the international R&E community. While this will give you a first taste of what to expect at TNC25, there’s much more to come – look for the opportunities to be a part of the programme in our open calls below. Take a peek on tnc25.geant.org/programme

Keynote Speaker Spotlight

Jess Auerbach Jahajeeah is an interdisciplinary social scientist and Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town. She has worked across Africa and the Americas, exploring digital inequality, knowledge systems and inclusive innovation.

Her keynote “Networks and Knowledge Futures: the architecture of imagination” will use the physical infrastructure of the Internet as an entry point for a discussion of how contemporary knowledge infrastructure shapes imagination and possibilities. Drawing on time spent with the crew of the Leon Thevenin, Africa’s only dedicated oceanic fiber optic repair vessel, it humanizes the work of building, maintaining and expanding knowledge networks across divided political geographies.

“TNC is, without a doubt, one of the highlight events of the year, and this time, I’m even more thrilled as I have additional responsibilities to make it more engaging and more enlightening for our NREN community! The core of TNC lies in the many, many presentation proposals we receive from our inspiring community. That’s why selecting them is no easy feat! The TNC25 Programme Committee has put in so much effort to craft a dynamic, thought-provoking programme packed with cross-sector sessions, lessons learned, and NREN daily life strategies.

Get ready to be inspired, challenged, and surprised in Brighton! We’re bringing exciting new features and even more opportunities to connect with your international colleagues. This is going to be the best TNC – see you there!”  Ieva Muraškienė, TNC25 Programme Committee Chair

The Call for Lightning Talks, BoFs and Community Hub proposals closed on 11 March and selected proposals will be announced in the coming weeks.

Future Talent Programme

The GÉANT Learning and Development (GLAD) team, together with GÉANT NREN partners, offers programmes to facilitate engagement between students, young professionals and the GÉANT community.

The Future Talent Programme (FTP) connects future talent with the GÉANT community and provides a platform for young voices. Participants receive professional presentation training to articulate their ideas and deliver powerful presentations. This allows them to showcase their research to industry experts, bringing young talent and the research and education networking fields together. FTP finalists, selected by the TNC Programme Committee, are invited to present a Lightning Talk at TNC25.

Emerging NREN Programme

The Emerging NREN Programme (ENP), funded by the GÉANT Project, has been delivered alongside TNC since 2018. The programme aims to integrate representatives from emerging NRENs from around the globe into the TNC community and to create further synergies and connections at different organisational levels between European and international NRENs.
