AzScienceNet has further expanded the eduroam service in Azerbaijan by connecting Azerbaijan Medical University (AMU). The implementation was carried out with technical support from the AzScienceNet Network Operations Centre at the Institute of Information Technology.
As part of the rollout, modern Wi-Fi infrastructure was deployed across the university campus. This upgrade improves local network performance and enables full access to eduroam in line with internationally recognised research and education networking standards. As a result, students, academic staff, and researchers at AMU can now benefit from secure, high-speed wireless connectivity both on campus and at thousands of eduroam-enabled institutions worldwide.
The deployment at AMU was delivered within the framework of a memorandum of cooperation signed between the Institute of Information Technology and Azerbaijan Medical University at the end of last year. The agreement covered key areas including access to high-speed internet, provision of advanced network services, and utilisation of opportunities offered by the GÉANT Association through the AzScienceNet NOC.
At present, eduroam is available at 36 organisations in Azerbaijan. Ongoing efforts are focused on further extending the service to additional scientific and educational institutions across the country.
