To enable ground-breaking research using high-performance computing and other advanced networking applications, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore have completed a high-speed 100G research and education circuit which enables the completion of a new ring network, the Asia Pacific Ring (APR), across the Pacific between Asia and North America.
This milestone was announced on 1 December 2017 at the launch event hosted by Singapore Advanced Research and Education Network (SingAREN) in Singapore. Provisioned by PCCW Global, the link is co-funded by Japan’s National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT), Singapore’s National Supercomputing Centre (NSCC) and Singapore Advanced Research and Education Network (SingAREN).
