New and Re-Elected Board Members for GÉANT

At last week’s GÉANT General Assembly (GA) meeting held at GÉANT’s Amsterdam office, attendees voted for three open GÉANT Board positions.

The three positions arose as a result of terms of office due to expire at the end of 2019 for Andreas Dudler (SWITCH), and the stepping down as Board Members after this meeting by Sabine Jaume-Rajaonia (RENATER) and Ivan Marić (CARNet).

We are pleased to now announce the following members have been appointed to the GÉANT Board of Directors following the voting process:

Kerrie Power – HEAnet (newly elected, 3 year term)

Andreas has been Managing Director of SWITCH since May 2012. He is responsible for the deployment of technology and the operation of all SWITCH services. Even before being appointed Managing Director, Andreas Dudler has given SWITCH and the Swiss academic community many years of commitment alongside his main job. In addition to his work with SWITCH and GÉANT, Andreas also works with ROKJ – a private Swiss social programme helping children suffering from poverty and social exclusion develop to their full potential.

They join existing Board members Christian Grimm of DFN (Chair), Paul Feldman of Jisc, Valter Nordh of SUNET, Federico Ruggieri of GARR, Raimundas Tuminauskas of PSNC and Marco Bonač of ARNES.

The GA is GÉANT’s highest governing body, in which representatives of its 39 member organisations meet at least three times a year and is also responsible for electing members to the GÉANT Board of Directors.

Chair of the GÉANT Board Christian Grimm of DFN, commented on today’s nominations, “I congratulate and warmly welcome the newly and re-elected members of the GÉANT Board, and look forward to continued and constructive collaboration over the next years during this exciting period of growth for GÉANT.”
