InAcademia reaches One Million transactions

InAcademia, the real-time online student validation service, this week reached the milestone of one million transactions within a single calendar year. The service allows students, researchers and staff to validate their academic credentials with a range of service providers to access special offers and discounts in a safe, secure and privacy preserving manner.

This was achieved across live operations in eight countries. We’d like to thank the continued support of SURF, DeiC, DFN, redIRIS, RENATER, SUNET, GARR and ULAKBIM in helping to achieve this incredible result.

InAcademia utilises a simple API to connect merchants to a pan European network of academic identity providers. The merchant redirects the student to InAcademia for authentication, which then validates the student directly with their home institution using eduGAIN interfederation and returns the result back to the merchants site without the need for the student to give the merchant personal information.

We are extremely proud of this milestone as it means that we have now protected the privacy of users in 8 countries on more than a million separate occasions.  To find out how InAcademia can support your student validation needs, visit InAcademia.org
