GÉANT is delighted to announce that Raimundas Tuminauskas of PSNC will be standing as Director for the EOSC Association Board at the forthcoming General Assembly in December.
Raimundas is Head of the Department of Network and Services Infrastructure at PSNC and brings a wealth of expertise in supporting research communities and developing trusted relationships when delivering services.
Raimundas has been involved in several EOSC projects, notably EOSC Enhance and EOSC Future, so has a strong understanding of the landscape and the needs of the stakeholder community at large.
Raimundas served the GÉANT Board of Directors for the last six years and until November 2021. He chairs the GEANT Programme Planning Committee (GPPC), leading this committee with extensive awareness of the specifics of project-based operations and the importance of agility and flexibility.
This combined experience from GÉANT and EOSC implementation gives him a unique position to help steer developments and transition EOSC components from the current project consortia to the EOSC Association. His ambition is to facilitate the consensus building and community engagement needed to enable the advancement of Open Science in general and EOSC as its toolset.
Raimundas says: I believe that the EOSC Association plays a unique role in evolving the research landscape. From my work in the NREN community, I would like to emphasize the importance of reaching consensus across a diverse community of partners and bringing them together behind a united goal. I feel that these skills will be valuable to the EOSC Association to facilitate establishment of balance in the community and converging the existing Open Science initiatives to co-create EOSC.
Raimundas is a pragmatic leader who listens to others’ views and carefully evaluates options, so decisions are reached based on a shared value in the end result. He has an open attitude and collective approach to foster trusted relationships which endure.
Andreas Dudler, Chair of the GÉANT board says: Raimundas has delivered excellent work on his time with the GÉANT Board and would be a valuable asset to the EOSC Association. With Ronan Byrne of HEAnet stepping down, I hope that the NREN community can continue to contribute strategically to EOSC via Raimundas.
We encourage the community to support Raimundas’ candidacy at the forthcoming election in December. His motivation statement and CV can be seen online.
