Following the fantastic start to TNC22, day two treated participants (in Trieste and online) to another packed programme of keynotes, lightning talks, and multiple sessions throughout the day.
The morning sessions featured topics such as the changing environment of optical transmission; how organisations are building infrastructure and platforms to support research communities; and securing the long-term strategy and sustainability of NRENs in different ways.
The Wednesday Plenary followed this with two keynote speakers:
- Monique Morrow (Syniverse Technologies) discussed the trust deficit, and the move to a Self-Sovereign Identity Internet.
- João Bacelar (European University Foundation) explained how the world’s biggest student exchange programme, Erasmus+, is going digital.
After lunch this was followed by the Lightning Talks Plenary, where the second set of LT speakers used their five minutes of fame to get their important messages across.
Afternoon sessions featured topics including the move from use case to production service, highlighting three that are evolving from their development within the GÉANT Project to production ready services for the whole community; the bigger questions (beyond networks and services) where our community can help – such as a more sustainable future, addressing historical inequalities, and finding new power where once it was lost.
In parallel, NREN CEOs made the most of being in the same place at the same time and took part in a CEO Track, to discuss common challenges and potential solutions.
And after a packed programme, endless discussions between sessions and at lunch and coffee breaks, the participants retire temporarily – before making their way to the long awaited TNC22 Conference Dinner.
Buon appetito and see you tomorrow!
Note: if you are in Trieste or following online and missed a session, rest assured all recorded sessions will be available to view on https://tnc22.geant.org/ after the conference.
