TNC23 continues into Day Two with keynotes, Lightning Talks, numerous sessions, and the REN CEO Track

Daniel Stach delivers his keynote speech at TNC23

After a great start to TNC23, day two kept up the busy pace with a packed programme of keynotes, Lightning Talks, and sessions covering a wide range of topics.

The morning plenary featured two inspiring keynotes, first from Daniel Stach (journalist, presenter, science communicator, Czech TV, Czech Republic) and his keynote “Forget love. Science is all around us!” and closely followed by Jeremy Knox (Digital Education Edinburgh Futures Institute – EFI) and his “Manifesto for Teaching Online: critical and creative pedagogy for post-pandemic times.”

The plenary was followed by the second strike of the Lightning Talks – five-minute presentations focused on one key point – which again demonstrated clearly why this format has become such a popular part of TNC.

Parallel sessions in the afternoon covered such topics as security and neutrality; the need to pay attention to the details; the connection of physical and virtual education spaces; automation and orchestration; sentient security; digital identities and the EU Digital Identity Wallet; areas of innovation across the community; and eHealth. Phew!

The Emerging NREN Programme side meeting also took place; and the CEO Track – now in its second year after a successful introduction at TNC22 – took place, chaired by GÉANT CEO Erik Huizer. The CEO Track takes advantage of Research and Education Network (REN) CEOs being in the same place at the same time, to discuss common challenges and potential solutions.

And that’s not to mention the thousands of conversations that were clearly taking place all over TNC23, at coffee breaks, lunch breaks, on booths, and on the way in and out of sessions!

The TNC23 Conference Dinner should offer a chance to relax after such a packed day! See you tomorrow…

Note: if you are in Tirana or following online and missed a session, rest assured all recorded sessions will be available to view on https://tnc23.geant.org/ after the conference.
