GÉANT is delighted to announce Charlie van Genuchten’s election as the new GÉANT Community Committee (GCC) Chair. Charlie, Senior Product Manager for Security at the Dutch NREN SURF, was elected to lead the GCC for the next three years during the GÉANT General Assembly which was held in Amsterdam on 20 November 2024.
Charlie takes over the GCC Chair role from Claudio Allocchio of GARR, who served in this position from March 2020 until now. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Claudio for his commitment to the GCC over this extended term.
“I am truly excited to be the new chair of this Committee. I love our community, which I have been part of for almost a decade now, and I can’t wait to dive deeper into collaborating as a community within our Special Interest Groups (SIGs), Task Forces (TF), and the GÉANT Project.
I want to drive the committee to highlight not only successes, but challenges too, to discuss with the board in order to create a space for innovation and positive change. The Innovation Programme is a great example of a motor which will keep up the momentum and encourage new ideas. I’m grateful to be taking on this new opportunity, and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve as a community.”
