On behalf of our friends from the CESNET Association, the National Research and Education Network from the Czech Republic, we are excited to announce that The Catch, their annual Capture the Flag competition will take place throughout October: from Monday 2 October 2023 at 12:00 (CEST) to Monday 23 October 2023 at 12:00 (CEST).
The Catch 2023, whose ultimate objectives are to help build a more secure internet environment and cyberspace, is very timely as it kicks off in conjunction with the European Cybersecurity Month 2023, an initiative coordinated by ENISA and by the European Commission to raise cyber security awareness in Europe.
But, what is a Capture the Flag competition? Although most of our readers are familiar with this type of training, here’s a little reminder. In the context of cybersecurity Capture the Flag is an exercise in which participants, either individually or as part of a team, are challenged to find and exploit vulnerabilities in a system to capture a flag or piece of information. These can be intense and nail-biting competitions that include prizes for winners.
