Compendium 2024 Survey Results Now Live: Explore the Data & Insights

Snapshots about network traffic from the Compendium Data website

The results of the 2024 Compendium survey are now live on the Compendium data website following the “Data Release Infoshare” which took place on 25 February 2025. For the first time all the responses to all 90+ Compendium survey questions are accessible and downloadable, just a few months after the survey closed.

To help decision makers form an accurate picture of the European NREN community, it is essential to provide up to date information in a timely manner, hence the quick turn-around from closing the 2024 survey, to publishing the results online. And to raise awareness of the breadth of subjects covered by the Compendium, an individual page has been created for each question.

What is the Compendium?

Every year GÉANT invites NRENs to fill in a questionnaire asking about their network, their organisation, standards and policies, connected users, and the services they offer their users. All the responses received – together with other surveys and studies carried out within different teams within GÉANT and the NREN community – make the Compendium Report, an authoritative reference source for anyone with an interest in the development of research and education networking in Europe and beyond.

Last year, a new Compendium website was launched. On the new website you can download the Compendium Report as well as browse through the Compendium Data in the form of customisable graphs, charts, and tables to quickly identify developments and trends: compendium.geant.org.

What’s next?

Work is already well underway on the 2024 Compendium Report; a deep dive into key trends in 2024, and an opportunity to hear directly from NRENs about the stories behind their survey responses.

The whole Compendium team invites you to browse and download the data that matters to you.  Whether users are seeking insights into how NRENs are funded, a quick link to a Gender Equality Plan, or to know more about which services NRENs offer their users, all can be found on the website.

Happy exploring!
