Nicole Roy is the Director of Infrastructure and Operations at Internet2. Her journey is quite an unconventional one. She now manages the service engineering and operations team for Internet2’s Trust and Identity Services department, but her career did not start within the STEM fields. Holding a degree in English Literature, she started off as an administrative assistant at the University of Iowa, but her interest and curiosity for computers brought her to the Identity and Access Management (IAM) world. She is also a transgender woman in STEM.
In this interview, she tells us more about how her work and the way her leadership is perceived has changed since her transition and what she does on a day-to-day basis with her highly skilled staff in the IAM field.
