GÉANT signs 7-year GN5 Framework Partnership Agreement

Following the news in October 2021 around its successful evaluation, GÉANT is proud to announce that the GN5 Framework Partnership Agreement (FPA) contract has now been signed by the European Commission (EC) and by GÉANT CEO Erik Huizer on behalf of GÉANT and the GÉANT Consortium of NREN Partners.

The GN5 FPA is a 7-year strategic framework that outlines the overall direction, objectives, and impacts of individual projects within that timeframe as part of Horizon Europe – the EU’s key funding programme for research and innovation.

Now that the FPA signature stage is completed, formal project proposals (Specific Grant Agreements – SGAs) can be finalised and submitted.

Erik Huizer, GÉANT’s CEO comments, “We are very pleased with the level of trust that this highlights between the EC and the GÉANT Consortium, reflecting a relationship that extends more than 20 years. This is great news not only for GÉANT and its member NRENs, but for the research, education, and innovation communities who together we support. The FPA delivers the continued stability and visibility needed for long-term planning, development, and delivery for the GÉANT community. My thanks go to all who were involved in the preparation of this FPA proposal and together with all our partners we look forward to many more years of successful GÉANT projects.”
