EOSC Task Forces get down to work with newly elected Co-Chairs

EOSC Association new Task Forces Co-Chairs 2024

Nearly 200 volunteers in the four new EOSC Association (EOSC-A) Task Forces enthusiastically began their activities in June and July 2024, electing their respective Co-Chairs.

GÉANT is delighted to see that both members of our organisation and broader community have been chosen to take on these roles and congratulates all new EOSC-A Task Forces Co-Chairs, who will be crucial in driving forward the implementation of EOSC in key areas.

New EOSC Association Task Forces Co-Chairs

For over 20 years, the GÉANT community has been significantly contributing to building the trust and identity structures required by scientists and researchers to carry out collaborative, international, cross-border and cross-disciplinary work (more in this article). As Co-Chair of the Task Force on Technical and Semantic Interoperability and lead of the subgroup on Authentication and Authorisation Infrastructure, GÉANT’s Senior Trust and Identity Manager Christos Kanellopoulos will contribute our community’s experience to the EOSC identity management infrastructure. Additionally, the Task Force will also tackle other two key areas, via subgroups on Technical Interoperability and Semantic Interoperability, led by Co-Chairs Diego Scardaci (EGI Foundation) and Jiří Marek (Masaryk University).

Among the new Co-Chairs, Jenny O’Neill, Research Engagement officer at HEAnet, was elected to chair the Task Force on Long-Term Data Retention. Watch her Lightning Talk at TNC24 (min 1:06:21) to hear more about HEAnet’s Research Engagement activities and how NRENs are supporting Open Science and Open Research practices.

The FAIR Metrics and Digital Objects Task Force will be co-chaired by Mark Wilkinson (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid) and Elli Papadopoulou (Athena RC), who we had also interviewed for CONNECT44, the Autumn 2023 issue of our GÉANT CONNECT Magazine entirely dedicated to Open Science.

Finally, Lene Krøl Andersen (Computerome at DTU – Technical University of Denmark) and Petr Holub (BBMRI-ERIC & Masaryk University) were elected to co-chair the EOSC-A Task Force on Health Data.
