The GÉANT NREN Twinning Programme is a recent initiative aimed at sharing knowledge and fostering collaboration between emerging and advanced NRENs.
Launched as a pilot project during the two-year GÉANT (GN5-1) Project, four NRENs (MAREN and ASNET-AM, and RENU and Sikt) have successfully taken part, finding the programme to be highly beneficial for all partners.
The success of the pilot has led to the permanent establishment of the Twinning Programme and applications are (just!) still open for 2025, to be held as part of the upcoming GÉANT (GN5-2) Project.
So, how does it work?
- NRENs submit applications outlining their areas of expertise, development needs, and proposed GÉANT membership partner.
- A matching process pairs suitable partners based on their interests and needs.
- Selected partners jointly create a workplan for their six-month collaboration, including joint activities, milestones, and communication protocols.
- Partners receive a travel budget to facilitate mutual visits and knowledge exchange.
- Following the programme completion, partners submit a joint report summarising their achievements and the programme’s impact.
A background presentation was delivered on the Twinning Programme at a recent International Infoshare, where you can find extra information – along with the wiki page.
All interested NRENs are encouraged to apply and participate in this exciting programme! Applications close at the end of October.
